Thank you. I’ve had long covid for five years. Those of us so afflicted wear masks and don’t understand why others do not. Thank you for posting the research. I hope you are as well as possible.

Toby, sorry you have been dealing with this for so long. Our family of five are still masking, but it’s becoming rarer in our area. People who mask or masked in the past, begin to doubt reality when everything they see is the opposite.

If you are not directly affected, I think this no masking visual, and social power is incredibly powerful.

FYI, I got Covid and long COVID in March 2020, one year before there were vaccines.

If you don’t want to take an mRNA vaccine, you can take Novavax, same kind as other vaccines.

I have had at least eight. Last one in May, after I caught Covid a second time (first March 2020) in January 2025, when I wore mask on a plane but my family did not. 😑. A guy was coughing right behind us.

They got Covid and then I did.

Will get my next Covid shot this month or next!

Traveling on a plane this Thursday 🙄. I wear a mask and a face shield. And I make my family wear masks in line and on the plane 😆.

My latest is I also take four capsules of Wellness Formula daily during the trip to boost immunity 🙂

The truth is in the middle.

This article has scientific merit.

But missing hilariously sad things.

Sadly the conspiracy types haven't learned basics yet about the virus, and the doctors can't learn the dangers of the mRNA.

What is os sad is the article says. "It isn't a cold".

And right there is one of the most important facts and missed solutions of all.

There has always been a free safe excellent nasal vaccine available to humanity.

A common cold coronavirus.

They disappeared from public knowledge..

5.4 years ago.

And nobody even noticed.

Except me.

Yup. Capitalism produced the virus (through overcrowding, poor ventilation, storing live exotic animals together in markets, escape from a lab, or compromised personal immunity or a combination of these).

Capitalism can ignore long Covid as it hasn't got a job for everyone (to keep wages down) and it needs to cut costs to, as you say, maximise profits.

Expand full comment
Kate's avatar

No, no, no. There's no such thing as long vax. The relatively low rate of vaccine sensitivity showed up as a sudden serious heart issue. It is the having Covid which sensitises some people and causes it to affect many of the body's system. That is long Covid and is it horrible and can largely be avoided by having vaccinations. The risk is increased by multiple infections with Covid.

Um hum. Clearly the lab in Wuhan, set up to study bat coronavirus, had nothing to do with it; had to be the farmers market down the road.

In fact, both the FBI and CIA have weighed in on this. The confusion is due to a cover-up and huge public media campaign.

Sadly, every single thing in our nation has become politicized - and because the right wing blew the whistle on this (pretending to care, which they don’t), liberals need to stick to the ‘market’ theory or be branded ideological traitors.

Meanwhile, a lab funded by US tax dollars to evade an Obama era US ban on this kind of research killed millions of people, our own governments lied about it to us, and pharma went on to earn trillions from it — and no one responsible has been held accountable.

Why? Because the Republicans used this to take cheap political hay, and Democrats can’t upset the donors.

It's possible. It will eventually come out. You're right in that at this moment it suits both neo-Liberal parties in the US to bury it.

Slightly Lucid's avatar

Kate, the truth about the Kennedy assassination hasn’t come out yet.

The truth actually has come out - it came out to no fanfare, little coverage, and after everyone had moved on. The truth was coming out even as the pandemic unfolded; those who were saying ‘Hey… isn’t there a lab…’ were shouted down, de-platformed from social media, banned from the newspapers, and lost jobs.’

Liberals made believing in the wet-market theory a litmus test of group solidarity. The “wet-market” theory was ALWAYS stupid and racist.

The Republican’s were outraged, held hearing after hearing until their boy took office, and now it’s just crickets.

Now, I don’t believe (as some do) that the lab leak was done on purpose, but I do know for a fact that Fauci and the NIH and Darpa had very good personal and ‘national defense’ excuses to cover this up.

First, they were breaking the fucking law on Gain of Function research. Next, they were working with the Chinese government funding what might have been a bio-weapon. Third, many leaders had deep investments in Biolab research. Fourth - can you imagine at the top of this pandemic what would have happened if the government had actually said ‘oops.. we were doing this thing we weren’t supposed to be doing and that ya’ll didn’t want us doing, and now… well, lock up your kids!’

The worst, most fucked up fact of this all is that had they come right out and said it, research into this infection would have been 100x quicker. Scientists would not have had to pick a political position to influence their science. We might have been able to avoid new untested vaccines in favor of tested, traditional vaccines. We would have known vast lockdowns would be unnecessary. The immediate political in-fighting over this caused so very much confusion - and cost so very many lives.

And not one of these jackals, including the company that invented this virus (EcoHealth), will ever pay the price. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cd9qjjj4zy5o

Thank you for this. My husband and I have not stopped masking. We are immunocompromised. No one understands though. No one else masks for us (not even doctors) and people often come up to us and purposely cough in our faces and then laugh when they see us wearing masks. I reported one instance of cough/laugh/spit to the police and they said there’s nothing they can do about it. It’s devastating. Immunocompromised people have always been treated as expendable.

My son is 20 and has monthly seizures as a result of Covid. He also has PTSD from years of being told his issues were due to his own inability to toughen up and manage stress effectively. It took 2.5 years to find a neurologist who would even consider the idea that his symptoms were real, and treat him accordingly. He had to drop out of his freshman year of college.

Fortunately, his current medication regimen limits his seizures to *just* 1-2 a month (total sarcasm on the *just*, because even that number is outrageous and causing permanent long-term damage). He has a service dog who alerts him to oncoming seizures and helps him with his post-seizure symptoms. He’s back at college, and doing his best to balance his health with the need to live his life. I’ve come to accept that I am likely to outlive him due to the ongoing damage this disease causes to his system. But it makes me so incredibly angry.

It is so discouraging to listen to people who have been sold it is the vaccine. Trump had a lot to do with it, by going on about Covid was a hoax.

555,000 Americans died of Covid during the 12 weeks he golfed and did nothing. (Brookings Institute)

He had PPE, but decided people weren't being nice enough to him so he sold it all to China.

Yep. Bob Kraft, who has been a big donor to Boston area hospitals flew a bunch of PPE in from China on his private plane for use in the overwhelmed hospitals. However, since a different company's private shipment had been impounded by the feds previously, his pilots filed a flight plan that had them landing an hour later than they did. They were able to get them all off-loaded and on the road to hospitals before the feds arrived. They literally had to lie in order to prevent more doctors and other health workers from dying.

Despite masking and being up to date with vaccines, I caught COVID for the second time last year from someone at work who insisted they just had a cold. I've had COVID once--the only time that I skipped a vaccination point-- and appear to have completely recovered. But I already had Lyme (which faces the same refusal to admit it's a long term chronic infection). I think the routine I already had in place against Lyme probably helped prevent Long COVID (though that is no more than my personal opinion). I also mask any time I'm in a public space, and will get the updated COVID vaccine as soon as it's available in my area.

Those of us with Lyme saw the similarities between it and Long COVID as soon as it began to be reported--severe fatigue, cognitive problems, cardiac problems, the whole list.
